Emily Mitchell is the author of A Better Bethany, an upmarket women’s fiction novel filled with friendship, family secrets, complicated relationships and suspense. A lover of beach-town stories and book-club fiction, Emily writes about the messy, funny, and sometimes unexpected ways people’s lives intersect. She hopes her characters are relatable and aims to bring a smile (and a tear or two) to every reader’s face.

Emily is drawn to stories that make her laugh, keep her guessing, and leave her thinking about the characters long after the final page. She especially loves a good plot twist or surprise ending!

When she isn't writing, Emily plans weddings and special events all over the Mid-Atlantic. She loves love, and genuinely enjoys working behind the scenes to bring her clients’ visions come to life. She is also a mother, living just outside of Washington D.C. with her husband and children.

A Better Bethany is her debut novel, and is inspired by summers spent on the shores of Delaware. When she's not writing, planning or spending time with family, you can find her scouring Airbnb for the next getaway, listening to yacht rock, baking sourdough or contemplating whether or not she should finally start raising backyard chickens.
